What about the social side? ...
We aim to create a friendly relaxed environment
where all our members will feel comfortable.
To that end we hold several (optional) social events after films - at the beginning and end of the season and at Christmas.

Where your 2010/11 season donations went
You were asked to make a lot of decisions last season on where we should best devote our funds in supporting the wider interests of film.
Firstly £1000 was been given to the Cheltenham Film Festival for the second year in a row. See their plans on their web site.
Secondly £1000 was given to Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum to expand their "Shot in Cheltenham" programme.
The full Programme description is here, but in brief it is: "...inviting young people in Cheltenham to enter a short film competition. We would like them to create a piece of film which reflects their perception of Cheltenham as a young person, so we have a record for the future of how they see Cheltenham Now. These films will then be uploaded by the young people to a website. At the close of the competition the film with the most votes will be the winner. The winner will receive a voucher for an Audio Visual shop to spend on buying equipment that will further their career in filmmaking. "
Lastly we gave the University of Gloucestershire money as part of a three year agreement to fund equipment, bursaries and prizes within their Media Studies programme.
For the latter two in particular, we are encouraging young, local talent in film making. Your reactions to their efforts will be published on these pages over the 2011/12 season.
2010/11 season donations
So far we have only given the second of the agreed three £3,000 donations to the University of Gloucestershire Film Production unit. We are still debating other grants to give.

Stephen's Selection These films are being shown in the Cheltenham
area and are recommended as 'definitely worth seeing' by Stephen, our
resident film buff and committee member. If you do get to see any of them, please send
us an e-mail with your views about the film, the venue, anything we
can learn to help improve the society. Also let us know if you
hear
of other films we should include here.
Happy viewing!
